Spring is only a month away - the year is flying by and with Spring nearly here the paddocks are starting to fill up with calves and lambs.
July’s wine club with guest chef Andrea Nuciforo and speaker Martin Chanbley from Planet Wines in Auckland was a very successful evening with Argentinean food ably supported with wines from Chile and Argentina. The evening even allowed time for a few tango’s after the kitchen was closed although I must say I did enjoy being kitchen hand for a night!
The next wine club night will be on the 28th of August with master sommelier Cameron Douglas from Auckland.
I have tentatively booked the 25th of October for our Oktoberfest this year. Apologies for the late advice but I could not plan this earlier.
Entry fee is $20 p/p that gives you a glass of beer, bubbles or wine on arrival.
NB Final booking is 1st October with the maximum number for the night set at 45.
I will post the menu middle September for you to see on my website. When paying by internet banking please put your name in the reference field along with 'Oktoberfest'.
Free range pork scotch steak with a preisselbeer (German bush blueberry) and curry cream – sounds mouth watering!
A range of our ready cooked take out meals is available for sale at the restaurant – great for a winter’s night when you are short on time. Just heat and enjoy – curries, veal strips, lasagna, German meat loaf and more.
During August we are offering the choice of Lunch or Dinner menus for evening dining!

I recently dined for dinner at the Waitete Restaurant with a group of like minded others. We were offered a set menu of just a main and a dessert. The staff were absolutely wonderful. The wine was incredible and the food was really, truly top quality. The chef is doing a wonderful job! Also, the icecream is so special, especially when combined with their homemade brownie. I would just like to say a big thanks to them all and I will DEFINITELY be dining there again.
PS: They sell their own salad dressing and it is out of this world!
