All mums who come to lunch or dinner on Sunday will get a free ice cream sundae.
One of April’s highlights was a visit from a 30 strong group of motor scooter racers on the last leg of a 1000 mile race back to Auckland. It was a wonderful evening followed by a late breakfast the next morning. Then they all took off to race around the Coromandel.
The last social wine club with Martin from Planet Wine was a great success and the 5 courses matched with great wine choices were well received. The next social wine club is on the 30th of May with Carrick Vineyard of Bannockburn, Central Otago.

Meal of the month this time is my mum’s Baked Quark cheesecake.
If you are interested in cooking or baking with Quark, please contact me at the restaurant as I have it in stock. I also have German Sauerteig Roggen Brot (Sauer dough rye) and a range of our ready cooked take out meals that we used to sell at our farmers market.
Watch out for our Tomato Oil Chilli pickle. Chef Roland just made another batch (actually it was my late wife Flora's speciality) – it’s now available at the restaurant.

Have stopped for afternoon tea and cake and for lunch on Sunday. Roland the chef and owner offers an extensive knowledge of food, beer and wine.
His German dishes are superb for something different, but his use of fresh food from the local area is well done. He had desserts to die for many hand made ice cream based with fruit from his orchard. A well considered choice of wines and imported beers as well as an interesting Kawerau brew in the German tradition (white beer). Ambiance, fun, good service from our wait lady who is also German.
The four of us shared the entire dessert menu and left very happy with the whole experience. A must go to weekend treat in a peaceful spot out of town.
