March saw a bit of a hiccup with a few cancellations during the severe storm weekend but we also had the highlight of a wedding for a local man and his Thai wife who are living in Bangkok. A great time was had by all!
We kicked off our social wine club for 2014 at the end of last month with Chris from Sherwood Vineyard in Waipara - it was a great night.

The Warm Up Party to the Whangamata Beach Hop went off with an amazing amount of polished up cars and heaps of sun that brought out the punters.
Our voucher for 'best dressed male' was won by a Queenslander (here to show off away from home) who happens to be the owner of The Eagle Rock Diner north of Brisbane. They cashed in their voucher and booked for the next night's Wine Club straight away! They stayed in Waihi for their time in NZ and used it as a base for their trips around the Coromandel.
This month Chef’s special is our tasty Thai Style Fishcakes - Arborio rice based with prawns, shrimps and Terekihi mixed with Thai spices and fresh coriander formed into cakes and pan fried till crispy. Served with our garden fresh mixed salad and sweet chilli sauce - yumm!!
We have some rare celestial happenings this month. The Earth will fly between the Sun and Mars in it's orbit on April 8th (no wonder I feel dizzy at times??!!). This month we’re closer to Mars than Earth has come for almost six-and-a-half years. On the 15th there will be a Lunar Eclipse with Mars and the moon near each other in the sky as the eclipse happens.
We are open over Easter (closed Easter Monday evening only) and as normal we have no holiday surcharge.
